37. New Flesh, Old Flesh

Feeling, well, about as Cronenbergian as usual, Sian set the scrolling marquee on her collar to read Long Live the New Flesh.

She means, why wouldn’t you?

Anyway, funny story, wearing this heelied fit she got from last September’s Cyber Fair, which is, to be quite honest, a lot more Battle Angel than Videodrome, Sian went to Sin Labs, a venerable haunt, which was among other things the place where an older iteration of Sian first met Core. She originally thought to use the Sin Labs race track, but that wasn’t to be. To her surprise though, she found a beautiful spot that she hadn’t seen before.

And used to decorate that spot was a mesh, originally supposed to be an RLV avatar, that that older version of Sian had made nearly ten years ago, based on the art of her friend Dreampaint Loon.

Sian had entirely forgotten she’d given a copy of the mesh, an abandoned project, to Kumi Itoku (the owner of Sin Labs). Kumi had very creatively made it into this rotating ring of statues around a glowing orb, linked by beams of light.

Sian was oddly moved that anything she might have made would have such longevity.

The virtual new flesh, so to speak, stood by flesh of no little age.
