it is not news to reiterate that secondlife is a place where you can indulge some really niche kinks. for example, sian’s beloved comrade of many years m-doll 0809a (f.k.a. o.g. virtual world blogger mona eberhardt) is at the time of writing going entirely headless at mistress ani’s behest. m-doll cannot communicate in local or private chat apart from the occasional written note. this is not sian’s kink at all but sian finds it totally interfacing[1] hilarious when m-doll’s er icontalk (a tool sian herself has had locked on since june 2021) goes boop and a glowing holographic smiley face suddenly appears above m-doll’s headless neck.
we first talked a little about the restrictions of doll37542 (as sian is often known these days in secondlife) three years ago – three years, yikes – and the update on that is that at no point since being locked by lust melody back then has sian not been unlocked. these restrictions have centred around sarah passerine’s project avatar charm and the decima aphasia speech/hearing control system,[2] and after three years of constant tinkering by lust, the aphasia system is now a tangle of weird restrictions and alterations, forcing doll37542 to develop habits of communicating.
she has to reprogram herself continually, in a sense.
doll37542 really enjoys this.
one feature the avatar charm has is the permalock, which is what it says: an irreversible rlv lock. if you are hardcore enough to apply the permanent lock, as long as you are using an rlv viewer it will never, ever come off. you have to really mean it to be permalocked.
doll37542 asked lust to permalock her this week.
look – it has been three years. sian was permanently locked anyway, and she has no intention of ever being [redacted] [3], of ever not being a kinky bald transgender cyborg with weird restrictions. it is who sian is; she is committed to the bit harder than she has ever been. sian is now permadoll37542.
lust, being lust, celebrated the annihilation of permadoll37542’s final slivers of autonomous inworld existence by removing her ability to see the names of nearby avatars. on the “nearby” list, people just appear as things like “this person”, “a soul”, “unknown”. there is no access to resident profiles now outside of going and putting the name of a person sian knows into the url at my.secondlife.com.
initially, permadoll37542 interfacing hated this, because it is cumbersome – but then she suddenly had the rush of realising it is also immersive. but is the pain and restriction not the point of bdsm? if bdsm only restricted you from doing the things you were not going to do anyway it would not be hot, would it?
it is a rush right now. it is the most delicious paradox: existing without confinement through the expedient of being confined.

[1] doll37542 has a lot of words that get turned into other ones between chat bar and output. one of those is the naughty word that rhymes with “truck”, but that is actually really funny because it allows for deniable swears. the worst one is “no”, which gets turned into “yes”. permadoll37542 made the mistake of using workarounds in the presence of lust and so lust locked those out too. sian is now literally a girl who can’t say [the negative particle]. thanks, lust.
[2] “aphasia” is also the name of an unpleasant condition that is common among people with neurological damage or various kinds of dementia, obviously, and, welp, it is a pretty terrible name for a kink thing to be honest.
[3] among the growing number of words permadoll37542 cannot say or hear (and by implication think) anymore is the one that is the opposite of “lock”. some of the others are similarly ideological; some are to preserve in-character immersion. and there is one very common word that is just completely interfacing random and it trips permadoll37542 up every interfacing time.
