Sian doesn’t have to DIY hormones anymore. That’s the news. Gender Services finally got to giving Sian proper HRT. There might even be, before the year is out, a consultation on surgeries. Hurrah! There is a wrinkle: it’s got to be dermal patches. No more injections.
The patches are big crinkly plastic squares and you have to move them around your body, you wear them for three and a half days and then you yank them off and put the patches in another spot. What this means is that there are these ineradicable square outlines made of old glue, tattooed onto your skin. What no one else tells you is that there’s some aches in HRT, changes in collagen that mean that you just don’t move the same way, and having the entry point localised over a long period means that your muscles feel strange. It goes deep. It’s comprehensive. It alters you.
Discovering that someone in SL didn’t just make hormone patches like the ones RL!Sian has but also includes the little squares of glue residue oddly made Sian’s day the other week. It’s very pleasing.
