In the UK, it’s now literally illegal to protest against genocides or to offer public support for people protesting about genocides. One specific genocide, anyway. You know the one (and if you don’t think it’s a genocide, please for the love of Goddess go away and get yourself a functional moral compass). You can go to prison for it. It’s now defined as an act of terrorism.
Today, RL!Sian went to a first session with a new therapist and the therapist, a good person, with a working conscience, explained that the law is now such that if clients describe getting involved in, say, protest activity on behalf of people who are the subject of genocides, the therapist is required by law to “report terrorist activity”, and so the therapist advised that if RL!Sian engages in activism, it’s better the therapist doesn’t know.
So much for meatspace.
